Architectural Firm and Builder Collaborate on Modern Modular Homes

canadian modular steve maxwell thechronicleherald com--northern ontarioCombining old world craftsmanship with modern modular designs has brought together a partnership combining East Coast Modern, which is an architectural firm in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with builder Lloyoll Built, and the Port Mersey Commercial Park, where the modules are being built in Warehouse B. Formerly the Bowater Mersey Paper Mill in the Region of Queens Municipality, the facility is big enough to accommodate the building of eight modular homes simultaneously.

The collaboration just completed and shipped their first modular home, the Beach Pod 2.0, a two-bedroom, two bath unit that went to a buyer in St. Margaret’s Bay, according to thechronicleherald.ca Jonathan Loyl, founder of Lloyoll Built, said, “These well-developed models embody the best of unique architecture and advanced, modern building techniques.”

The first model shipped was 1,050 square feet and sold for $205,000 plus shipping and foundation work.

Architect Nicholas Fudge of East Coast Modern said, “What we’re creating together gives our business access to a highly talented workforce, and it enables that workforce to flourish in an area of the province that is aggressively seeking new opportunities.”

The homes must meet the stringent criteria of the Canadian Standards Association which is recognized in the U. S. and around the world, opening access to shipping them across the globe. ##
