Arizona Grant Provides Family with New Manufactured Home

With assistance through Yuma, Arizona’s housing rehabilitation program using Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) money, and a grant from the Arizona Department of Housing, as a low-income, single mother, Sylvia Lopez qualified for a new manufactured home to replace her 1971 model that became inhabitable, according to yumasun.com. She is responsible for paying the property taxes and maintaining the home, and if she occupies it for 20 years she will owe no mortgage payment.

The goal of the program is to repair and rebuild homes according to need and resources, but this was the first time a manufactured home was used, as MHProNews was told. Pacesetter Home Centers was the lowest bidder for the three-bedroom, two-bath home at $49,000, and included siting and hooking up the new home as well as hauling the old one away. Neighbors pitched in and helped clear out the site. ##
