The Department of Justice revised a regulation for Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) that covers public accommodations. As reported in the Manufactured Housing Institute’s (MHI) Week In Review for Feb. 25, the revision refers to accessibility for swimming pools. If it is for the exclusive use of the residents, it is not included in public accommodations. If the pool is in a manufactured housing community that is open to the public, it must comply with the new standard by March 12, 2012.
