Whitaker, of Frankfort, Kentucky, the executive director of the Kentucky Manufactured Housing Institute (KMHI), has been appointed to the High Performance Buildings Advisory Committee by Governor Steve Behsear. A measure passed by the state legislature requires all renovated and new buildings for which the sate pays 50 percent or more of the capital costs be constructed to meet energy efficiency and environmentally-friendly standards. Emphasis is on LEED Certification, recyclable materials, and utilizing Kentucky products and labor. Her appointment runs until Aug. 22, 2012. She replaces William C. Wilson whose term has expired.
