The right-of-center New York Post reported that musician Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, planned his appearance alongside the commander-in-chief’s son Donald Trump Jr. and his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle, who is also a Trump campaign senior adviser, former right-of-center Fox News star, and is a popular Hispanic in Republican party circles. The Harrison Charter Township, Michigan “Make America Great Again” – or MAGA event – doors opened at 6 p.m. and the festivities began at about 7 p.m.
Detroit 7 said that the crowd was cut off at 4,000, due to local regulations. Last week, President Trump held a rally in Freeland, MI, attended by thousands, including rising GOP star and U.S. Senate hopeful, John James.
Kid Rock, 49, has long been a supporter of the commander-in-chief, endorsing him early in 2016. As longtime MHProNews and MHLivingNews readers know, the artist owns a manufactured home in Tennessee on a “mountaintop” spread.
Kid Rock toyed with a Senate run himself, but ultimately supported John James, a U.S. military veteran and businessman, in a run in 2018 that fell short. In the 2020 election cycle James is running against incumbent Michigan Democratic Senator Gary Peters. The race has been rated a toss-up in a state that narrowly went to President Trump in 2016. In a time when ‘law and order’ resonates with many, and bringing home the U.S. military matters to millions, and ‘black lives matter’ is a mantra – those elements, and frustration by small business owners with Democratic overreach during the COVID19 pandemic – could all play in James’ and the Trump campaign’s favor.
But much of the mainstream media, a massive and growing campaign financial war chest, and the support of leftist billionaires, are on the side of Obama-era Vice President Joe Biden (D) and his running mate, Senator Kamala Harris (CA-D). The Trump-Pence ticket won Michigan by a razor-thin margin of 10,704 votes in 2016. It was deemed a major upset over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – who had her husband former President Bill Clinton and former President Barack Obama’s support – in a state that was part of the once-vaunted ‘blue wall.’ But with the support of a growing number of blue collar workers, minorities, and others that are normally part of the Democratic coalition, the Trump Campaign is hoping for a more resounding victory this time around.
It is an epic set of contests in 2020 in many respects.
