According to hulldailymail.uk, the East Yorkshire company Premier Interlink, which provided modular housing for the London 2012 Olympics, will deliver five of the first 22 affordable modular homes to the Great Thornton Estate later this month. The five energy-efficient homes feature communal rainwater harvesting tanks, triple-glazed windows and photovoltaic panels.
In recent years the company has provided a new birthing center for Scotland’s largest and busiest maternity unit, eight schools across Brent and Westminster, and a five-story, 240 bed dormitory for Newcastle, all modular.
Situated on the former Catfoss Airfield, Premier has seen business increase 50 percent if the last three years. Noting the company’s first foray into affordable housing, Divisional Director David Harris says, “We have been working with Jonathan Wilson from the Goodwin Development Trust for about 18 months to develop this product and we are very excited about how it fits in with the future of our business.“
Currently the firm has 150 permanent employees, and expects to hire another 50 workers. As MHProNews has learned, the company has been obtaining contracts worth $1.5 million to $3 million, but anticipates projects valued at $9 milli0n to $30 million. ##
