As follow-up to a post MHProNews reported Sept. 24, 2014 regarding the stand-off between Forest City Ratner and Skanska over the 32-story Brooklyn modular housing complex—now called Pacific Park Brooklyn– partially completed, theguardian states construction will resume. Forest City had accused Skanska of cost overruns, while Skanska leveled charges of design flaws. That dispute remains in court. Only one of the 16 modular units was completed.
Forest City CEO and President MaryAnne Gilmartin announced work will resume with Greenland USA, a subsidiary of the Chinese firm, Greenland Holding Group, but the remaining 15 towers will likely be completed utilizing traditional construction methods instead of modular building. The new name is Greenland Forest City Partners. Gillmartin described modular as “an ongoing experiment” and hopes to use it again in Pacific Park. ##
