With the extension of long-term benefits for the unemployed still in abeyance in Congress, the California Employment Development Department (EDD) has notified 220,000 recipients of long-term benefits that their aid will end in two weeks. This prompted Keep Your Home California to remind homeowners under the Unemployment Mortgage Assistance Program it offers up to $3,000 a month mortgage assistance to an unemployed Californian who has received benefits within the last 30 days. As MHProNews has been informed by housingwire.com, recipients can receive assistance for 12 months. The benefits from the federal government will expire in two weeks unless Congress votes to extend them.
