The city of Vernon in south central British Columbia, Canada has issued a development permit and subdivision plan approval for a 77 home site manufactured home community, according to what vernonmorningstar tells MHProNews. Noting the need for more local housing, Len Sloan, of the development company, said, “We have no set age group but we’re targeting 45-plus. We’ re trying to make it semi-affordable.”
Neighbors had expressed concern that removal of the trees was endangering nesting areas of herons on the nine-acre property. City Planning Manager Dale Rintoul said, “The trees are not heron host trees and would be a hazard to the new homes in that portion of the property. The manufactured home park requires extensive landscaping, which includes an abundance of new trees.” ##
