Sources with Deer Valley Homes told MHProNews that Charlies “Chet” Murphree, 59, after several months battling cancer.
The funeral service for Chet Murphree was held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel, per Peck. The burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery, Alabama. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Murphree died on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at his residence.
- Chet was born May 8, 1961, in Morgan County to Charles Leroy Murphree and Elizabeth Ann Sample.
- He was a graduate of Decatur High School and of U.A.H. College.
- Chet was the beloved President and General Manager of Deer Valley Homebuilders, of which, he was one of the original founders of the company and served on the Board of Directors.
- He was named Person of the Year for the Alabama Manufactured Housing Commission in 2015.
- Chet was inducted Alabama Manufactured Housing Industry Hall of Fame in 2017.
- He served on the Alabama State Board for Manufactured Housing and on the Board for Alabama Housing Foundation and also served on the Board of Real Party Ministries.
He was preceded in death by two daughters: Kendall Page Murphree and Kelsey Graham Murphree.

Pallbearers were reported by Peck to be Joey Aycock, Ray Cooper, Keith Holdbrooks, Steve Lawler, Jimmy Moore, and Gerald Newsom.
On a personal note, one of the most enjoyable days professionally for this writer was the day spent with Chet and his colleagues at the Deer Valley production center, where we did video interviews. The respect of local business and elected officials, his colleagues, and team on the production floor were self-evident. He will be personally missed, and MHProNews wishes all those touched by his loss our deepest condolences.
Once more, our sincere and deepest condolences to all of those touched by the loss of Charles “Chet” Murphree. He will be missed, but his memory cherished.
