A couple requested the Jasper (Alabama) City Council to rezone a 1.6 acre piece of property from R-2, single-family housing, to R-3 affordable housing, in order to site a manufactured home (MH) on the property. Neighbors who live near the property are concerned an MH would depreciate their own real estate.
Daisy McCollum says her family currently lives in a rental home that has mold and no air conditioning, and she wants a nicer home for her family. While she says the home she intends to site is a modular home, not a manufactured home, city planner Keith Pike says the original request for rezoning was for an MH. He added that rezoning would not be necessary for a modular home, according to mountaineagle.
The Jasper Zoning Board had previously approved the rezoning request, MHProNews has learned. The council tabled the request until the next meeting. ##
