The 18 manufactured housing (MH) and recreational vehicle (RV) communities in San Angelo, Texas, each have different variances and maintenance regulations, and the city wants to establish uniform ordinances in response to the influx of workers drawn by the Eagle Ford Shale oilfield in southwest Texas. Concern resonates among city council members regarding the burden existing community owners may face if they are not already in compliance with zoning. As sanangelolive.com says, the current ordinance requires communities be at least three acres in size and contain no more than 30 percent RVs, zoning which has not been enforced. Council members have instructed city staff to design proposals that will standardize ordinances governing MH and RV communities, MHProNews has learned.
