When the tragic and deadly-to-Joe Clayton crash of the helicopter reportedly piloted by James “Jim” Clayton occurred, there was a surge in readers on the interview done by Jim with MHProNews. That is among the insights reflected in the data that follows.
Before turning to those insights, the following is from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to MHProNews about the Clayton Helicopter Crash. ICYMI, the report linked below tees up the FAA official comments to MHProNews.
“The FAA’s participation in the [Clayton helicopter] accident investigation covers the following nine FAA areas of responsibility: (1) Performance of FAA facilities or functions (including oversight responsibilities). (2) Performance of non-FAA owned and operated air traffic control (ATC) facilities or navigational aids. (3) Airworthiness of FAA-certificated aircraft. (4) Competency of FAA-certificated airmen, air agencies, commercial operators, or air carriers. (5) Adequacy of Federal Aviation Regulations. (6) Airport certification safety standards or operations. (7) Security standards or operations and/or hazardous materials. (8) Airman medical qualifications. (9) Violation of Federal Aviation Regulations.” So said the FAA’s Kathleen Bergen in exclusive comments to MHProNews.
MHProNews asked Bergen: “Is there any interim grounding of James “Jim” Clayton flying privileges pending this investigation? It has been reported that Jim Clayton was not certified to fly that helicopter. Can you confirm that claim?”
Bergen said via email that “The FAA investigation will include a review of airmen records for the pilot. The competency of FAA-certified airmen is one of the nine FAA areas of responsibility in its investigation of the accident (see above.)”
MHProNews also asked Bergen: “There has been significant inclusions of Jim Clayton’s “philanthropic” efforts and political ties from mainstream media covering this tragedy. Is that an indication that he’s being given a degree of cover that a less affluent or wealthy person would obtain? Rephrased, will Jim Clayton be treated the same as any other typical pilot involved in a crash?”
Bergen said in reply that “The Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) are the civil regulations that cover the aviation industry. Accidents are not necessarily caused by or related to violations of the FAR. If an investigation reveals non-compliance with a FAR, the agency can take action with the ultimate goal of bringing the regulated person into compliance, preventing recurrence of non-compliance, and mitigating safety risks. We look at circumstances surrounding a violation, not external factors that are unrelated to the event.”
The video below is among the most recent from mainstream media on this topic. It provides an NTSB update. Note that federal sources tell MHProNews that the report in the video is ‘interim,’ more details may yet emerge.
MHProNews plans to monitor developments on the above issue.
Manufactured Housing Industry Connected Reports & Analysis
The deadly Clayton helicopter crash produces a similar pattern that has occurred for years of reading of MHProNews reports. When something makes mainstream news, reporters often go to Google and seek to learn more on a given topic.
On issues like Clayton Homes, other industry firms, organizations or personalities, that often means a surge in traffic on reports and interviews that might be months or even years old.
For instance. The interest in reports about Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and others reflected in the data below is noteworthy. Total traffic on MHProNews has surged over 50 percent in the last several weeks. So too are articles about purported Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) conflicts of interest and failures.
The sequence that follows the advertisement below are ranked from the most-read report in August 2020 to other highly, but lesser-read August 2020 reports, per the largest cPanel data on MHProNews.
Whistleblowers Tips and Notice: an important point and reminder for manufactured housing, association, or public officials, professional insiders who have insights about problems, corruption, conflicts of interest, or other issues should keep in mind our strong record of protecting whistleblowers that want to remain anonymous.
Programming Notice: the above noted, there are upcoming reports that include insights from insiders on topics that matter to manufactured housing pros and advocates.
In reviewing the following top 30 linked reports, as it is not yet month’s end, keep in mind the following. Cavco Industries (CVCO) and the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) have said that there are some 75,000 – pre-COVID19 – full time workers in manufactured housing. As a trade publication that might appeal more to professionals, investors, managers, owners, etc. any report that breaks 5,000 (+/-) hits in a month is a well read article, based on national readership levels. That said, in July one of our reports cracked 500,000 hits in less than a month, and in June one of our reports broke the 1.1 million hit mark. That means that readers well beyond manufactured housing are accessing these reports.
To provided added third-party context is this comparison from mainstream media business new giant, Forbes. What that graphic clearly indicates is that MHProNews dominates in news, as this comparison here and here to would-be competitors reflects. Note that when invited, those bloggers and industry competitors did not dispute those linked fact checks and analysis.
Simply put, MHProNews dominates in our industry’s trade media.
It should be noted that numbers of our reports – often, some of the most read – include insider insights. While some want to be on-the-record, there are good reasons why off-the-record comments, documents, and tips can prove very useful to the industry, consumers, taxpayers, investors, and others.
The reports linked above are in the same sequence by traffic as reported by third-party Webalizer Generated 20-Aug-2020 07:09 CDT. Month-to-date from that cPanel there have already been 12,998 Total Referrers, meaning, nearly 13,000 reports accessed out of 20,000+ to that point in time in August 2020. What that means in part is that the reports linked below, either had not yet been published, or had only been online for less than a day.
We have other indicators that the two reports linked above and below are going to be among the top-read reports in August. In fact, the report linked above fell just one shy of the reports linked above from making that cut. So, statistically it is a lock to be in the top tier starting today (this report is being drafted on 8.20.2020). Once, more, keep in mind that there are well over 20,000 articles on MHProNews, so being in the top 30 reports during a month is big stuff.
Readers decide what ‘goes viral’ and what doesn’t. It is readers like yourself that decide what interests them and what doesn’t. That said, month-to-date, the typical visitor to MHProNews has 6.56 page views per visit. That dwarfs what others in media do, per the third-party research linked below.
Sometimes, what is a hit with readers and researchers can be somewhat surprising to us. But what the above reflects is that articles published sometimes weeks, months or years earlier can suddenly surge in interest.
These are reasons why the reports, analysis, and other content found on MHProNews are documented the runaway most-read in manufactured housing trade media. As we approach the end of our 11th year of publishing, our sincere thanks to our sponsors, sources, and readers for making that statement a reality.
Stay tuned for more of what is ‘behind the curtains’ as well as what is obvious and in your face reports.
