With more than 25,000 homes sold in 2013, for the second consecutive year Clayton Homes of Maryville, Tennessee has earned the title of America’s Largest Homebuilder, according to ourmidland.com. This honor is based on the total number of site-built homes in 2013 as reported by Builder Magazine, and the number of manufactured homes (MH) Clayton shipped, as enumerated by the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI). Kevin Clayton, CEO of Clayton Homes, says “Our purpose statement is about opening doors to better lives. Though we did this more than any other home provider, I am more proud of the passion that our 12,000 team members have in making sure our customers enjoy a first class experience of home ownership. We are grateful to all of our loyal customers who have placed their trust in the value of a Clayton Home.” MHProNews knows Jim Clayton started the business in 1956 in East Tennessee, and Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway acquired Clayton in 2003. ##
