The Rapid City Journal in South Dakota reports a family, whose nine-year old son has a severe neurological disorder, has received a brand new manufactured home through the efforts of a local church and radio station. Tay-Sachs affects muscular control, preventing the boy from moving or speaking. Most children die from the disease by the time they are four or five, so the family considers him their “miracle.” Until now, the family living room has been his bedroom, and the new home will allow them privacy they have not enjoyed in years, as their son requires round-the-clock care. Countryside Community Church and radio station KSLT-FM conducted a drive to raise the $108,000 for the manufactured home, which was donated at cost by Northern Hills Homes and RVs of Wyoming. So far they have raised about half of the funds.
