On Thursday, Representative Joe Donnelly (D-2nd-IN) toured the Commodore Corporation manufacturing facility in Goshen, Indiana. While at the plant, the Congressman addressed 120 employees noting his strong support for the manufactured housing industry. Through the leadership of Congressman Donnelly, who sits on the House Financial Services Committee, HR 5369 the “Manufactured Housing Licensing Clarification Act of 2010” was introduced in Congress. The purpose of the legislation is to clarify and exempt certain activities conducted by manufactured home salespersons and retailers from the requirements of mortgage loan originator licensing.
MHI extends a special thanks to Mr. Barry Shein, President and CEO, Mr. Bob Bender, General Manager, of the Commodore Corporation for organizing the tour of the facility and Mr. Mark Bowersox of the Indiana Manufactured Housing Association for attending the event. Plant tours illustrate first-hand how plant processes relate to legislative issues and are an excellent tool for grassroots advocacy. A plant tour will provide you and your employees with an excellent opportunity to develop a deeper relationship with your representative.
