Updating a story MHProNews posted Oct. 21 regarding a tax increase to pay for relocating manufactured home residents who live dangerously close to a runway at Fairchild Air Base in Spokane, Washington, the city council voted 4-1 to raise county property taxes 6.3 cents per $1,000 valuation for Proposition 1. The increase would yield $18.1 million to purchase the land and move the residents. According to spokesman.com, the cost on a $200,000 house for up to nine years would be $12.60 annually. County Commissioner Al French says that is a small price to pay for an airbase that generates $1.3 billion annually in economic activity.
