Delaware Online reports from Georgetown that the Sussex County Council overruled the county planning and zoning commission and voted to put an RV campground in the middle of Rehoboth Shores manufactured home community. The undeveloped space had been designated for 260 home locations, but the council said it will increase tourism and the local economy without putting a strain on the school system, as more manufactured homes might. Opponents say it will open the door for other manufactured home community owners to use unused land any way they want. The Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission had voted unanimously against the proposal in March because it was not compatible with property use. About four hundred people had signed a petition against the project originally.
