As follow-up to an article we published Aug, 24, 2012 on the Delaware race for state representative in District 37 between incumbent Republican Briggs King and Democrat Beth McGinn, Ms. King clarifies her stance on MHCs in a Cape Gazette VillageSoup article. While Ms. McGinn criticized King for abstaining from voting on a rent control measure (Senate Bill 205) in the legislature because her (King’s) uncle owns several MHCs in Delaware, King responds that 205 would have eliminated the Lot Rental Assistance Program (LRAP). This program provides financial aid from the community owners to low income residents of MHCs. She states residents who live on rent-controlled sites would not be eligible for this assistance. MHProNews has learned while McGinn is a resident of an MHC, King says she will sponsor legislation to clarify the administration of the state Landlord-Tenant Code, and hold out-of-state community owners more accountable for their properties.
