Following complaints that a newly-issued building permit would allow a manufactured home to be sited on property specified for single-family permanent homes, doverpost reports the Dover (Delaware) City Council agreed to amend city ordinances.
While the permit will not be amended, council was asked to change the definition of “one-family dwelling” to exclude manufactured homes. City Director of Planning and Community Development Ann Marie Townshend said manufactured homes are defined as factory-built housing constructed on a chassis and delivered to the home site.
MHProNews understands the “one-family dwelling” designation would, however, include modular homes, which are assembled on a permanent foundation.
While the planning commission will discuss the definition change Dec. 2, 2015, a public hearing will be held at the Dec. 21 meeting, with a final vote set for Jan. 11. ##
