Updating a story MHProNews has been following since June 17, 2015 regarding the siting of 500 modular homes for the homeless in Dublin, Ireland, the first 22 homes slated for Ballymun that were set for completion by Christmas last, are now set to be ready for occupancy the end of this month. Protests that shut down work, threats against workers and bad weather have all contributed to the delay.
The deadline for the completion of an additional 131 modular homes for Finglas, Darndale, Cherry Orchard and Drimnagh has been moved from June—a deadline the Council no longer deems achievable—to the second week in Dec., 2016, according to irishtimes. The new plan splits the completion dates into four separate time slots.
Cherry Orchard in Ballyfermot, where 24 homes will be sited, is set for occupancy Oct. 17; the 29 homes planned for Knocknarea Road in Drimnagh will have 29 modular units and will be finished by Nov. 7.
The 38 homes at Belcamp, in Darndale, will be completed by Dec. 5. The largest of the sites, St. Helena’s Drive in Finglas with 40 homes, is scheduled for completion by Dec. 12.
All the homes will be two stories. A family of four will have two bedrooms, while a family of five will have three bedrooms. ##
