Market Watch tells MHProNews.com that ADP says 325,000 jobs in the private sector were added in December. According to CBIZ Payroll Services, their Small Business Employment Index (SBEI) rose 1.75 percent last month, the largest increase since 1.77 percent in December 2009. The November 2011 gain was only .35 percent. As the manager of payroll services for 3,000 businesses that employ 300 or fewer workers, CBIZ is a barometer of small business hiring. Additional results of the survey show that 19 percent of the companies decreased their employees, 30 percent added workers, and 51 percent remained the same. Philip Noftsinger of CBIZ says, “The positive movement in the index supports a continued improving trend in labor markets.” Noting the current obstacles to sustained growth in Europe and China, he adds, “We need to continue to see positive, or at least fair global macro news through the first quarter, otherwise the latest trend may not last through June 2012.”
