Updating a story MHProNews.com last posted Nov. 22, 2013 regarding Garden Homes Management’s eight-year effort to develop a 113-site affordable manufactured housing community (MHC) in Oxford, Connecticut, the Planning and Zoning Commission denied the application for a second time, according to voicesnews.com. The Inland Wetlands Commission has also turned down the application during numerous hearings, testimony by engineers and other professionals from both sides, court rulings, regulatory agency hearings, appeals, some amid charges of foul play and alleged conflict of interest. A major concern has been stormwater runoff and how it might affect a protected wetlands area, although at the meeting Tue., May 6 a commissioner brought up safety and recreational concerns for the estimated 60-plus child residents that have not been addressed. MHProNews.com could not immediately confirm if Garden Homes would once again appeal the commission’s decision. ##
