MountainExpress informs MHProNews the U. S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is urging communities to apply for EPA’s Smart Growth Implementation Assistance (SGIA) program that will explore innovative strategies in four categories to develop healthier and more sustainable places to live, work and play. The goal is to develop solutions to meet local challenges. One of the categories eligible for funding deals with helping manufactured and modular housing communities that are experiencing sudden growth develop mixed uses regarding community spaces, water and energy efficiency, and how best to utilize existing infrastructure and streets. In the past the SGIA has dealt with stormwater management, code revision, affordable housing, transportation development, corridor planning, green technology, and climate change. Local, regional, tribal, and state governments and nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply.
