Reuters reports from Kansas City, Missouri, that since the tornado devastated Joplin, MO, there are 624 families and individuals needing housing. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is building up to 324 three-bedroom one bath modular homes that will be sited on city-owned land in the north part of town. These homes are larger and built to higher construction and air quality standards than the notorious Katrina homes. Occupants may live in the homes rent-free up to 18 months.
