Defense Video and Image Distribution System (DVIDS) reports the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (the Corps) has let two contracts to prepare sites for homeless survivors of the May 22 Joplin, Missouri, tornado. Two sites for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) homes are being developed near the Joplin Regional Airport. TABS Construction Company of Canton, Ohio, received a $2,615,013.26 contract for infrastructure support and pads at the Jasper South community; and Prus Contracting LLC of Cincinnati, OH was issued a contract for $3,263,316.43 for similar work at Jasper North community. The two communities will be able to accommodate 346 home sites, and construction will be managed by the Corps. Although they will be FEMA temporary housing, they will be developed as comfortable, livable communities.
