MHProNews has learned from tcpalm that firefighters in Stations 1 and 7 in Indian River County, Florida, will be temporarily housed in modular fire stations while renovations are being done on the stations. The county commission has approved spending $199,706 for modular housing on Old Dixie Highway for Station 1 and Station 7 near Indian River Mall. Both current facilities need mold remediation.
The county anticipates spending an additional $160,000 for cleaning furniture and connecting utilities at the temporary housing, and expects Station 1 firefighters will occupy the modular unit for about a year. The county wants Station 7’s permanent housing closer to I-95. ##
