The revelations by former Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair, Donna Brazile the Daily Business News reported on last week only confirmed what WikiLeaks, Bernie Sanders supporters, and others already revealed, said, or thought.
Is Fake News a Tad Strong?
As pro-industry trade media, we scour sources and views from across the political spectrum.
We don’t hide the fact that we’re pro-manufactured home. That should be expected of any trade media. Trade publishers favor the industry that they cover. That’s natural and expected.
While clearly and routinely – as in business daily, in our market report – reminding readers of the left-right media divide, we take views that can be contrarian to those sources.
For us as trade publishers, facts matter, trends matter, transparency matters, and the advancement of our nation, industry, and home owners all are important.
Using mainstream media data – often from left wing sources, but also right, and digging into the ‘internals’ of their polling data – MHProNews projected before the election the possible path to victory for now President Trump.
But don’t stop there, look at ALL of the headlines from the week of the election. Who else covers the industry even remotely as deeply, widely or broadly as MHProNews?

Manufactured Home Voters Helped Make a Difference
Those forgotten Americans that candidate Trump appealed to included millions of pre-HUD Code mobile home and post-code manufactured home owners. Who said? The New York Times and others.
We did a straw poll at the MHI/NCC Chicago event just days before the election. An overwhelming majority – including women – favored the ticket of Donald J. Trump and Mike Pence.
At that event, this writer asked a self-identified Clinton support, the following. Okay, so you support Secretary Clinton. Are you aware of those who project that Donald Trump’s policies could take the stock market to 25,000 before the end of his term in office?
A year later, the markets are already well over 23,000. It is the strongest market move in decades, and it was done without having the Fed use the artificial mechanism of so-called Quantitative Easing (QE).
Our recent Daily Business News report on the National Association of Realtor ® (NAR) data points reflect some of the many ways that the nation, including housing, have advanced so far in just a year since his electoral victory.
Racism, Russia, #Resist
It isn’t just Democrats that play the race card, but it is without question that Democratic party leaders and their media allies have used the race card for decades. Who said? RC Williams, among others.
It is almost funny to hear Nancy Pelosi long for the Bush years, when they too were branded as racists at times, and they were per reports just as opposed to Donald Trump’s presidency as Democrats were.

It now seems increasingly clear, per an objective view of mainstream media reports, that there are more obvious Russian connections by Team Clinton than by anyone associated with Team Trump.
It was equally clear what the Daily Business News tracked starting after the election, that it was the Clinton camp that didn’t want to concede the election, even though Secretary Clinton pressed then candidate Trump on that point during the presidential debates.
MHProNews picked Trump for pragmatic reasons. Namely, his stated policies were superior for the industry than were the claimed policies of Secretary Clinton.
As a pro-industry publisher, we not only reported the news, but provided clear-eyed analysis that’s repeatedly proved to be correct.
We strive to do so today, for the benefit of the majority of the industry.
That brings howls from some, cheers from others. According to our sources in Knoxville, Arlington, Washington, and across the nation, the largest, smallest, and all operations in between follow this platform more than any other. Some wish it were otherwise, and it is due to our many sources, colleagues, others who provide the necessary insights, facts, and other support. But facts are what they are, right?
Our motivations haven’t wavered. We believe in the future of manufactured housing. We spotlight hypocrisy, questionable, and bad actors. We celebrate the honest victories.
But we also believe that there are forces at work – wittingly, intentionally, or not – that allegedly keep the industry from achieving its obvious potential. Ascribe whatever motives one might wish, but keep ti simple.
As Marty Lavin said for years, pay more attention to what people do than what they say.
Understand or not the strategic plan that MHLivingNews and MHProNews strives to execute on daily, for careful watchers, you’ll see a pattern emerging.
1) We report from sources across the spectrum, even if we don’t agree with the statements or quotes from a given source. That’s called balanced journalism.
2) We strive to reflect directly or indirectly what the takeaways are for factory-built housing industry in general, and manufactured homes specifically – of the reported topic.
3) While independent of MHARR, and we communicate but don’t coordinate with them. We often see the wisdom of their facts, facts, facts, and analysis of those facts as they apply to manufactured housing. MHARR’s a fraction of MHI’s size, but routinely get the facts right. How is that so?
While providing facts and analysis during 2015 and 2016 that no others in the industry provided, long-time readers of the Daily Business News for two years or more recall, this publication supported Trump’s candidacy. We didn’t say it was a sure thing, but we stressed it was a very winnable election for now-president Trump.
As previously noted, the Trump campaign had Soheyla Kovach’s article proudly posted on their website for months, until most of the campaign related items were removed. A screen capture that documents it was done, and shown below. We claim no easy pipeline into the White House. But we do get daily press briefings and other reports.
This isn’t to brag, but rather to reflect the long term, strategic and tactical facts.
As we finished our 9th year of publishing, and are now into year 10, our goals remain much the same.
It should be noted that we supported MHI’s efforts where we could as a member, and as an elected board member.
Those who attend those MHI meetings know that we asked questions, made suggestions, and were not disruptive.
We provided at our own cost tools that could make the industry’s claimed goals more easily achieved. Why did MHI fail to use them? Why has MHI failed to achieve their own stated goals? Why did MHI have not one, but two pro-Clinton speakers at their November 2016 event?
For those clear thinkers, it’s MHProNews that has been consistent, fair, balanced and goal oriented. We worked for Preserving Access, but now see that there’s a better bill moving. Why stick with that older, weaker, 3x defeated bill?
Can anyone who followed the odyssey of MHI and MHProNews deny that they strived to undermine our work, long before we began to vigorously fact check their words and results? Isn’t that why they’ve ducked questions for about a year now?
Back to the 2016 election.
It is only logical that over-regulation was one of many things harming manufactured housing. It is only logical that candidate-now-President Trump not only promised regulatory reforms, but has been delivering.
While both associations claim to want to mitigate regulations, MHARR strongly and consistently called for the replacement of Danner at HUD as the common sense step to making regulatory reform a reality.
MHI has yet to officially, that we’ve seen, said the same. While there are signals that MHI might be evolving on the issue, should they do so, it would only be after months of media pressure and published statements by MHARR. As the WVMHI newsletter we reported on stated, MHI members widely wanted to see Danner go.
So why has MHI been reluctant to do so?
Let’s see if they reply, shall we?
Friends, Foes, Followers and Shruggers
From supporters, fans, to the modest but meaningful opposition, and all others, we get questions on why we publish some of the stories that we do.
Simple. The facts matter. It is only by getting to the core issues that harm the industry that the industry can advance.
As Lavin might say – and we aren’t putting words in his mouth, he speaks for himself – we’ve walked the walk. We don’t just say we support X, we do the things that pro-industry work calls for, daily.
We do so with sponsors and clients support, but that should not be construed to mean that the okay some or any of what we publish. As with MHARR, we communicate with clients, but do not coordinate content, we alone produce what goes under our by-lines. Other’s by-lines are their responsibility.
The industry stands with the nation at a crossroads. The #resist, #resistance sides – which openly or not include some in the GOP political ranks, as well as many Democrats, and some independents – are seeking to stop tax reform, ObamaCare repeal and replace, and de-rail the president’s pro-growth agenda.
