The world’s largest retirement community, which is also the fastest growing city in the U. S., is expanding to include additional senior living facilities nearby. With a growth rate of 5.4 percent for the 12 months ending July, 2014, The Villages in Florida grew from 51,442 people in 2010 to 114,530 today, based on U. S. Census Bureau data, according to foxbusiness. Located 60 miles northwest of Orlando, thousands of the homes in the complex among the 40,000 homes are manufactured housing, as MHProNews reported in a post Aug. 20, 2012.

Texas-based Titan Senior Living and Florida’s KR Management have partnered to provide 3,000 senior beds, including independent living, assisted living and memory care units to serve The Villages’ residents. With 42 golf courses, its own restaurants and movie theatres, the complex already has over 1,100 beds for continuing care, and 1,900 more are on the drawing board.

Mark Morse, president of The Villages, said, “Just as The Villages Health is offering primary care at centers strategically placed in locations throughout the community, we’re working with KR and Titan to cover all the needs Villagers will have in the future for senior living.” ##
