SmartPlanet tells MHProNews two Argentinian architects have developed a foldable disaster relief modular structure that can be carried seven to a flatbed truck and unfolded and ready to use in 30 minutes. Made of insulated thermal panels, much like a grocery store’s cold storage room, the units can be connected to one another to make a much larger space. While the units arrive with wiring and LED lights, doors and windows can be added to the modules. Weighing about 1,000 pounds each, they can be sited with a forklift instead of a crane. A standard 80 square-foot Modularflex module costs 38,000 pesos, about $7,600 each.
