Grants are now available in Henderson County, North Carolina to assist qualified residents remove abandoned manufactured homes (MH) on their property, according to blueridgenow.com. The grant will pay $1,000 of the cost, but the applicant is responsible for the remainder of the demolition, usually $500. The county has a fund to pay the difference if the applicant’s income is below $32,700 annually, MHProNews.com has been informed. House Bill 1134 was passed by the state legislature 2008 to protect public health, which included directing counties to develop plans to demolish abandoned MH. A similar program from Feb. 2010 to Feb. 2011 resulted in 25 abandoned being demolished. ##
