Lowndes County Planning Commission members in Valdosta, Georgia listened to Lowndes County Planner Jason Davenport propose changes to the Moody Air Force Base zoning regulations. The change would balance the scale between the base and property owners in the Moody Activity Zone (MAZ), according to valdostadailytimes.
Noting that current amendments tip the scale in favor of the air base, Davenport said the planning commission has gone through the Unified Land Development Code and proposed changes for single-family developments and accessory dwellings. One change would be to allow a single-section manufactured home to be replaced with a multi-section manufactured home, or add a room to an existing single-family residence.
He said, “If they were truly legally put there, we think they should be allowed to improve their existing residence without having to go through a variance or a public hearing.” While no vote was taken on the amendments, MHProNews understands a vote will likely be taken at the next Greater lowndes Planning Commission meeting June 29. ##
