Residents at Riverbend Mobile Resort in Reedsport, Oregon are concerned because the ground under their homes is shifting, and in some cases damaging the homes in the community. Riverbend Residents Committee Chair Randy Osborn says, “Homes continue to sink. As they sink, people can’t afford to have them jacked up. The walls, and the seams in the middle of manufactured homes are actually separating. Doors won’t open and close.”
In one home a bedroom is becoming unattached from the rest of the home; in another, a large sinkhole is developing under the home. Resident Kirk Collier said a clay cap was installed over sawdust to create a bed for the community, and now is is shifting, according to theworldlink.
The residents have been holding meetings, have contacted an attorney and are meeting at city hall this week, as MHProNews has learned. They say the community management is listening to them but so far has not addressed the issue which they think is an engineering dilemma. In this MHC of 126 homesites, the homes nearest Scholfield Creek seem to have the most pressing concerns.
Attempts by the Umpqua Post to contact the owner were not successful. ##
