Sources are reporting that the FBI investigation of former congressman Anthony Weiner’s sexting with an underage teenage girl in North Carolina has led federal investigators to discovering “thousands” of emails, some of which relate to Hillary Clinton’s well-publicized email woes.
Just when former Secretary Clinton thought that those pesky laws intended for others were in her rearview mirror, a laptop and other handheld devices in the possession of Hillary Clinton’s top confident, Huma Abedin and her estranged husband, Anthony Weiner, reportedly landed the Democratic nominee back in an unwelcomed FBI-probe spotlight.
HotAir recently reminded their readers that it isn’t just national security or federal records laws that the Clintons deem beneath their notice and dignity. It seems that when it came time to pull permits for updating their home, they blew those local laws off too.
Even before Hillary got “Weiner schnitzeled,” the pro-Clinton Washington Post/ABC News poll revealed that she had dropped 10 points in 5 days. Clinton’s narrow 2-point lead over Donald Trump is now within that poll’s margin of error. Note that the ABC/WaPo poll – like a number of others – are oversampling Democrats.
The LA Times tracking poll shows Trump up by 2 points over Clinton, even though the Times is also pro-Clinton and has arguably attempted to influence their own daily sampling.
For manufactured housing professionals, issues such as
- Dodd-Frank, which Clinton promises to keep and strengthen, which Donald Trump promises to repeal the law,
- Taxes, which Clinton campaigns on raising, and Trump has pledged to lower to create jobs and bring back 2 plus trillion dollars offshored by American companies hiding their wealth,
- ObamaCare, which Clinton wants to keep and possibly turn into a single-payer system (think the VA system for the public, including health-care rationing, longer wait times and higher costs), while Trump promises to repeal and replace the misnamed Affordable Care Act (aka ObamaCare) with a market-driven system that will increase competition, end penalties, improve options and lower costs,
- Regulations, Which the Obama-Nation has promulgated in record-setting, business- and job-killing numbers.
MHI, MHARR and most industry-connected associations are not taking a formal position on this presidential election.
The National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) – which reportedly has more manufactured housing industry members than MHI – has published the comparison chart – shown above – reflecting the two major candidates positions, as a decision-making tool for their members.
While the Trump campaign has celebrated the reopening of what they deemed a flawed and politically-tainted investigation of Clinton, naturally, the Clinton campaign and Democrats are infuriated by what they see as a late injection of her festering legal issues into the election process.
But the Clintons themselves benefited from a late October surprise akin to this one, when former Reagan Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger was indicted on October 30, 1992. That may have cost incumbent President George H.W. Bush reelection.
Political observers have noted that if Clinton should win, the nation could immediately find itself in unchartered waters, as a Republican House could well move to impeach her early in her administration, as more pay-for-play corruption with the Clinton Foundation, the State Department and a variety of other legal issues dogging the candidate continue to brew.
In the light of her legal woes, a growing number have called for Clinton to drop out of the race.
But those attending a recent Clinton rally, when questioned by reporters, said they were not going to be swayed by such news.
Meanwhile, a recent Fox News poll indicated that Trump was rising with women, rising with those all-important independents who will decide the election, and that a growing number of Republicans were “coming home” as they calculate that embarrassing words spoken a decade ago pales in comparison to having Clinton’s cloud of corruption, and her potential to nominate one or more Supreme Court justices that could reshape the highest court for a generation. ##
