We will weave two seemingly disconnected topics together. Holocaust Remembrance Day and the approach of Ramadan.
First the Holocaust didn’t just impact Jews, who were certainly a prime target. Millions of non-Jewish people died in the same Nazi death camps.
It is also not enough to wag a finger at the Nazis. Historically in sheer body count, the Communists globally made the Nazis look like mere students of mass slaughter. For more on that, see the link below the bylines.
Americans born and raised in the country often have little idea of what hardship or cruelty are. The video above makes that point. That’s a danger, when one considers the voices pushing socialism, and who dodge the fact that Nazis were socialists, the Communists and those in power in starving Venezuela were all socialists too.
Today, there were people weeping in parts of the world, just pondering the memory of the Holocaust.
If it seems odd to mix these two, then we should throw in Christianity and every other faith. The Creator gave free will. There ought to be an opportunity for a vigorous discussion about the truth of any subject, including faith(s). It begins with respecting the rights of others.
It is also about truth and fairness. As manufactured housing professionals, who know how unfair and misleading some things are in our industry, we should be particularly sensitive to the rights of others.
Last but not least. Both Muslims and Jews in the U.S. understandably have robust anti-defamation organization. Where is that for manufactured housing? There is much to learn from the things recalled on this date. We remember and pray.
