What’s all the buzz about a tiny green house up for auction on Ebay in Austin Texas? With a starting bid of $37,800, but you can skip the bid and buy the home for $49,800. Austin’s BizJournals tells MHProNews that this 288-square-foot green modular home is supported by the Home Builders Association of Greater Austin in association with Austin Community College.
Along with many companies located in Austin Texas, including the Austin Energy Green Building program and Barley Pfeiffer Architecture all have participated in the design and construction along with the students enrolled in ACC’s Building Technology Department at the Round Rock Campus.
Proceeds from the home sale will go the support of HBA education programs and create an endowment to support green building construction technologies programs at ACC.
Although this modular home is small, the builders filled it with sustainable amenities. Among the features are green-certified cabinets and flooring, foam insulation, Energy Star appliances, water efficient plumbing, ceiling fans, energy efficient windows and a passive solar design.
All materials were donated for the construction of this Green Home. To learn more about the Tiny House movement, click here. As most MH Pros know, new ‘shade and shelter’ style single section manufactured home are priced in many markets from the $30,000. ##
