There is some concern that HUD is not including appropriate representation and viewpoints on its boards and committees. Recently, HUD announced the members of the Manufactured Housing Consensus Committee (MHCC). Many leaders in the manufactured housing industry were ignored, and it appears that the new committee is designed to achieve critical mass for an aggressive pro-regulation majority.
One particular appointment causes some concern and that is Robin Roy, Director of Building Efficiency and Clean Energy Strategy for the Natural Resources Defense Council. Roy actually has no specific background in manufactured housing or the unique issues affecting its status as the nation’s most affordable housing source.
There are many issues and concerns that affect the manufactured housing industry that need to be addressed and this cannot happen unless there is appropriate representation on HUD boards and committees.
