HUD Retains Multifamily Housing Office

The Minneapolis Multifamily Housing office, which serves people in the Dakotas, Iowa, and Wisconsin as well as Minnesota, will continue to offer financing, mortgage insurance and operating assistance to a variety of multifamily apartments, nursing homes and manufactured home communities, according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development. U. S. Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota says, “The announcement guarantees Minneapolis will continue to be a national model for helping families find an affordable place to call home. The decision to keep the Minneapolis Multifamily Housing (MMH) office open is a huge victory for our city and for families who need rental housing options that include nursing homes, cooperatives, apartments and affordable housing for the elderly, people with disabilities and low-income families.” As insightnews.com tells MHProNews, Rep Ellison says the Minneapolis office is one of the top loan producers in the region, building over 6,000 units each year and helping families find appropriate rental housing. He adds, “Keeping the Multifamily Housing office ensures Minneapolis will continue to be a leader in enabling us to provide more workforce housing and still meet the needs for affordable housing for the elderly, people with disabilities and low-income families.”
