The Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) newsletter this week states Henry Czauski, the new Acting Deputy Administrator of the HUD Manufactured Housing Program, spent several hours visiting a manufactured housing plant and retail store in Pennsylvania. Accompanied by MHI staff as well as officials from the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Energy Star Program and the Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI), Mr. Czauski saw first hand how a manufactured home is constructed. President of Eagle River Homes Jim Dunn and his staff guided the tour and explained the manufacturing process. Energy Star Program personnel are in the process of updating energy requirements for modular and manufactured housing. Their questions during the visit led to a discussion on the differences between modular and manufactured housing, and the energy features in manufactured homes. Mary Gaiski, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Manufactured Housing Association (PMHA), and her staff, were among the key participants in this meeting.
