Following a series of posts MHProNews last published Sept. 24, 2015 regarding modular homes for the homeless in Dublin, Ireland, the city council’s head of housing, Dick Brady, has confirmed the selection of sites has begun.
With more than 200 homes to be sited, Brady is looking at vacant council-owned properties, particularly ones that have existing roads and infrastructure intact, according to irishtimes. Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly said he is ready to fast-track the modular homes.
Fine Gael Cllr Naoise Ó Muirí expressed hope 20 to 50 units would be in place by the end of November, while Sinn Féin Cllr Daithí Doolan sees the modular homes as part of the solution to end homelessness. Councillor Christy Burke, describing the living conditions of whole families living in one hotel room as “undignified,” said, “The sooner the better the manager (Mr. Kelly) identifies these sites . . . I give them (modular houses) my blessing.” ##
