The Register-News in Mt. Vernon, Illinois reports the Mt. Vernon City Council will hold a second reading on a proposed ordinance governing conditional use siting of manufactured housing in the city. The ordinance would require written permission from the owner of adjacent stick-built homes to allow a manufactured home to be sited next door. Conditional use will not be granted in areas where 50 percent (on one side of the block) or more of the homes are stick-built. A manufactured home may be sited in an area where there are already other MH. The city has left the ordinance open-ended to take other factors into consideration when granting the conditional use permit. MHProNews.com has learned all housing must be sited before the conditional use permit ends Dec. 31, 2012.
