The Republic reports the Associated Press says the Three Affiliated Tribes (Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation) of New Town, North Dakota developed a new manufactured housing community after the 45 site Prairie Winds Trailer Court was sold to oil development company United Prairie Cooperative for employee housing. The tribe invested over $2 million to build the new community, according to tribe CEO Dennis Fox, as well as move homes and help owners of units that could not be moved obtain mortgages to buy new homes. Seven manufactured homes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were purchased by the tribe as transitional housing until the new community is complete. MHProNews has learned the residents received notice last December of Prairie Winds closing.
