I don’t care whether you are a liberal, conservative, independent or something else – the bottom line with this year’s election was simply more of the same or something new, different or unique.
I started my full time speaking career in 1973 when gas lines were everywhere. I have weathered four recessions during my career and I will tell you, no matter what
Washington, Accounting Gurus or any politician tells you – the first three recessions ended on average after 12-15 months, followed by several boom years, but this last one isn’t over yet.
Sure, we may have lower unemployment as well as other signs things are improving. But it is my opinion that many in the homebuilding industry are stall facing a certain level of uncertainty, driven by the political and administrative actions and decisions during the past eight years.
One of the most common remarks I have heard from audiences during the past few years is “enough is enough” and “when will this period of negative business environment end?”
Let me ask you – is your business or career flourishing right now? The housing industry has experienced up and down economic movement every several years for a few decades so the present is not new.
However, how many organizations in this factory-built housing industry have gone by the wayside? I could give you a list of dozens, but I don’t have to, because you know who they are.
And why have those organizations disappeared? Loss of relevance? Management arrogance? Out of touch with reality? Or some other reason?
To my point of this article – how will the new President deal with this country’s challenges, needs and opportunities? I could go on for pages, but if I did I’m sure I would lose most of you as you have better things to do rather than listen to my opinions, ranting and/or praising.
So, let me just say that regardless of your political affiliation or beliefs – Mr. Trump will be a successful President for one major reason – his ego. He will not want to go down in history as an unsuccessful president due to his ego, so he will surround himself with wise, thoughtful, intelligent, experienced and caring individuals who will help him create a legacy of success.
Don’t believe me – keep this article and re-read it in four years.
