It is hard to believe that his prediction is happening here and now. This was 47 years ago. April 3, 1965. An amazing prediction. Do you remember the famous ABC radio commentator Paul Harvey?
Millions of Americans listened to his programs which were broadcast over 1,200 radio stations nationwide.
When you listen to this, remember the commentary was broadcast 47 years ago on April 3, 1965.
It's short…less than three minutes. You will be amazed. ##
" It is always safe to assume, not that the old way is wrong, but that there may be a better way."
–Henry F. Harrower
"There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else."
Sam Walton
– Founder of Walmart and Sam's Club
" All great things are simple and many can be expressed in single words: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope."
FoxNews and NPR have both featured stories about Thomas Peterffy. Fox said Peterffy created "one of the more personal ads of the 2012 campaign." On TV and online, his video warns against socialism while "urging America to vote Republican."
Quoting Fox:
"In the video, Peterffy recalls his childhood under socialism in Hungary, and says, "The nation became poorer and poorer. And that's what I see happening here." He warns that the United States, his adopted country, is embarking on a "slippery slope."
He continues: "America's wealth comes from the efforts of people striving for success. Take away their incentive with badmouthing success and you take away the wealth that helps us take care of the needy. Yes, in socialism the rich will be poorer — but the poor will also be poorer. People will lose interest in really working hard and creating jobs."
The ad doesn't mention the president or former Governor Mitt Romney. But the fact that he is investing millions of his own dollars in a message that echoes our Masthead blog column, Course Correction should make undecided or left leaning professionals in our industry take notice.
Peterffy founded Interactive Brokers. Forbes estimates his net worth at $4.6 billion. Peterffy is the political opposite of the more famous Hungarian-born billionaire, George Soros, known to support left wing causes and Barack Obama.
Peterffy has been interviewed by NPR for his role in popularizing electronic and online trading to securities
Thomas Peterffy was born in Hungary in 1944 and came to the United States in 1965. He learned English here, eventually launched Interactive Brokers in 1993 and lives in Greenwich, CN.

Clint Eastwood said it well. It is okay to let President Obama go. Register and vote Republican. Get your circle to do the same. Your company, job and a brighter future all depend on it. ##
