According to paloaltoonline, 15 people share three houses, a trailer, a vegetable garden and household tasks in an intentional community, called Greenwave, along a small Palo Alto (Calif.) side street. Owned by three of the members to whom the others pay rent, the three homes are manufactured housing to keep costs down in a commitment to maintain a particular lifestyle that provides green living and shared resources, including child care for those who work beyond the one acre plot of land. After buying a factory-built home for one dollar that had to be cut in half in order to move it to the property and then rejoined, the owners chose manufactured homes in keeping with the foundational values of the community. MHProNews has learned the residents have to commit to three things: Perform a weekly chore, attend one weekly house meeting, and help resolve any issues that cause tension.
