Only two weeks after Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State in southeastern Nigeria led a trade delegation to the Republic of Ireland, he has announced plans that would lead to the building of 5,000 affordable modular homes across the state, as reported by nationalaccordnewspaper.
Representatives of Affordable Building Concept International (ABCI) are in Calabar following discussions in Dublin to provide housing for the poor and unemployed in the state. Gov. Ayade said, “There is no amount of value you can give to mankind that will be enough if he is dehumanized by lack of shelter. The investors will come with their technology and expertise and set up a factory where low-cost housing will be designed off site and the houses set up in less than three days.”
The goal, in part, according to Gov. Ayade, is to site the houses so as to establish cities in each of the local governmental areas across the state. MHProNews has learned the chairman of ABCI, Desmond Cullinane, after touring Summit Hills agreed they could hammer out a proposal to build the homes. ##
