Inhabitat tells MHProNews that Taco Bell has rolled out a modular Taco Bell stand at the SXSW movie and music festival in Austin, Texas. Constructed of three shipping containers, the iconic restaurant is testing the concept to determine consumer reaction as it seeks to expand across the nation.
Assembled in just three days, the modular structure will allow for a lot of versatility in terms of space usage and efficiency. One unit is for food prep, one for storage and operations and one maintains the cooling equipment. A couple of separate smaller metal containers were welded on for a bathroom and a separate freezer facility.
In place of indoor dining space are refinished wood pallets and giant spools. The modular design, however, does allow for units to be added that could create indoor dining as well as more prep line space. ##
