The Seward County, Kansas commissioners have agreed to ease restrictions on replacing a manufactured or mobile home with a newer model by not requiring the owner to apply for a special zoning exception, which necessitates a public hearing with board of zoning appeals.
As leaderandtimes tells MHProNews, the planning commission and planning and zoning staff recommend approval of the amendment, with a resolution required to change the zoning regulations.
Information from the staff reads, “This amendment will allow staff to issue permits for replacement of non-conforming homes with a different home in better condition without a public hearing. This will save constituents approximately two months’ time in the replacement process along with the fees required for publishing and mailing notifications for the hearing.”
No public comments or written communication were received at a public hearing on the proposed changes. ##
