Lawrence County, Ohio on the Ohio River bordering Kentucky is collecting the second half of the year’s property taxes, according to what irontontribune tells MHProNews. Noting that collections are on track to match last year’s second half collections, Lawrence County Treasurer Stephen Burcham said there is a mortgage company to post, and mail continues to come in with checks.
Meanwhile, Burcham is teaming up with prosecuting attorney Brigham Anderson to collect back taxes owed on manufactured homes, totaling $1.4 million. “In the past, previous prosecutors have not addressed the delinquency in manufactured home taxes. Mr. Anderson is willing to move forward,” said Burcham.
Residents who do not pay their back taxes could risk having their home impounded. ##
