An advanced copy of a legal research document has been provided to MHProNews. The report is some two dozen pages in length and is heavily footnoted. The document has clear implications for affordable housing seekers, current manufactured home residents, as well as for manufactured housing professionals, investors, public officials, and others.
The source who provided the report to MHProNews indicated that the final version of the document is expected before the end of 2020 or soon thereafter. Depending on certain variables, it may come as soon as next week. Per the source, some typographical errors and minor refinements in the potentially explosive draft of the legal research are expected.
The document in its current form names several key Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) members. Warren Buffett led Berkshire Hathaway owned Clayton Homes is among them. MHI is also named as part of a purported scheme that the legal research argues aims to violate one or more federal and/or state laws.
The source of the tip and research are from outside of the manufactured home industry.
Based upon a preliminary look at the document provided to MHProNews, the research potentially raises new issues as well as confirms concerns that this trade publication and our MHLivingNews sister site have previously spotlighted.
MHProNews has taken common-sense steps to safeguard the research in its current format.
